How we visualize anything total depends on our perception. There are different shades of green but there are situations wherein three different shades of green would look green for us. Now how can a lighter shade and a darker shade both look green? This is the effect of perception.

This is why you will find people purchase clothes after seeing its color in the natural sun light outside the shop so that there is no influence of the light bulb.

How do we visualize or see colors?
Light is just an electromagnetic radiation that is spread over different wavelengths. When a ray of light is incident on anything some of the wavelengths are absorbed while some are reflected. The color is the reflected light wavelength. If all the wavelengths in the visual spectrum are absorbed, the thing looks black. On the contrary when all the wavelengths in the visual spectrum are reflected, the thing appears white. The color that appears to our eyes depends on the absorption and reflection of the various wavelengths of the visual spectrum. The exhibition of different colors of the spectrum depends on absorption and reflection of the visual spectrum wavelength.
The colors can be described on the basis of name, lightness or value and purity of the color. Some of the terminology used commonly while coloring the website are Chrome, Hue, intensity, saturation, shade, luminance/ value, tint, shade and tone.
